EXPANDED LEARNING PROGRAMS
CYM’s Expanded Learning Programs (ELPs) are designed to provide new opportunities outside of the school day for students to reach their full potential. CYM uses many different strategies at every site to positively impact the youth in these programs. CYM currently runs 13 ELPs in the Kings Canyon Unified School District.
YOUTH BEHAVIORAL AWARENESS
To expand behavioral health initiatives to more than 2,000 students, CYM has established a collaborative effort amongst ongoing strategic partners, including Kings Canyon Unified School District (KCUSD) and Sierra Kings Health Care District. The program will target KCUSD students in grades 1-8 and encompass Four Pillars of Behavioral Health.
TEEN MOMS
CYM believes that every teen mother deserves an opportunity to succeed. CYM provides a structured program in which young mothers learn parenting and child development, finances, nutrition, healthy choices for both mom and baby and strengthen social-emotional competence.
Additionally, young moms receive much-needed resources such as baby food, diapers, food boxes, and access to concrete support in times of need.
PREVENTION & INTERVENTION
Through the prevention intervention program, CYM seeks to provide assistance to youth and individuals via substance abuse counseling, Comprehensive Sexual Health Education, and Restorative Justice. CYM aims to be a place where an individual feels safe about discussing and resolving their problems.
